William Armstrong 1933-2004 Obituary
William Victor “Billy” Armstrong, 70, a lifelong resident of Mill Creek, passed away Wednesday, March 3, 2004, at 4:35 a.m. at his residence. He had been in failing health for the past year.
Born Dec. 9, 1933, at Mill Creek, he was the son of the late Doyle and Georgia Currence Armstrong.
In August of 1954 at Huttonsville, he was united in marriage to the former Elouise Shifflett, who preceded him in death on Sept. 9, 1999
Billy is survived by two sons, Victor Eugene Armstrong and Herman Doyle Armstrong and wife, Vickie, all of Mill Creek.
Also surviving are three sisters, Yvonne Valentine and husband, Speed, of Elkins, Lavonda Channell of Garrettsville, Ohio, and Mary Fincham and husband, Jack, of Mill Creek; one brother, Paul Armstrong and wife, Opal, of Mill Creek; five grandchildren, Nicole Hughes, Bumper Paul Armstrong, Shane Armstrong, Derrick Armstrong and Guy Armstrong; four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death besides his parents and wife was an infant brother, Arnold Armstrong.
Billy was employed by Reidbord Brothers for 15 years and also worked for the Moyer Company in Youngstown, Ohio, for eight years.
In 1995, he retired as a supervisor for the West Virginia Department of Highways.
He was a Protestant by faith and was a veteran, having served during the Korean Conflict with the U.S. Army.
He was a member of the H.W. Daniels Post 29 American Legion and in his younger years liked to hunt.
Friends will be received at the F.E. Runner Funeral Home Chapel on Friday after 6 p.m. Graveside services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Brick Church Cemetery at Huttonsville.
The Rev. Frank Long, pastor of the Mill Creek Memorial Mission Church, and the Rev. Frank Collier, retired Methodist minister, will officiate. Interment will follow.
The F.E. Runner Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for William Victor “Billy” Armstrong.
