Frank Burton Elbon 1920-2003 Obituary
Frank Burton Elbon, 83, a resident of Route 9, Box 455, Buckhannon, died Friday, Jan. 24, 2003, at the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center.
He was born Jan. 19, 1920, at Sago, the son of the late Grover Elbon and Elizabeth Simmons Elbon.
In 1948 he was married to JoAnne Winemiller Elbon, who survives.
Surviving are four daughters, Nancy Elbon, Buckhannon, Patty McQuain and husband, Jack, Buckhannon, Polly Turner and husband, Jack, Buckhannon, and Carol Grose and husband, Bob, Buckhannon; three sons, Steven Elbon and wife, Sherry, Buckhannon, Bert Elbon and wife, Marie, Vian, Okla., and Jim Elbon and wife, Emily, Niles, Ohio; two sisters, Lois Jean Masters, Westminster, Md., and Carda Elbon, Maryland; 15 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Marilyn Kay Elbon, four brothers, Joe Elbon, John Elbon, Ralph Elbon and Woodrow Elbon; and one sister, Glenna Elbon.
Mr. Elbon was a saw mill operator and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was awarded the Purple Heart Medal.
He was a member of the Sago Baptist Church and was a lifetime member of the French Creek Chapter 36 of Disabled American Veterans.
Friends will be received from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home where funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday. Interment will be in the Elbon Cemetery at Sago.
Buckhannon Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3663 and Frank B. Bartlett Post 7 American Legion will conduct military honors at graveside.
