Mildred Gail Frey 1913-2003 Obituary
Mildred Gail Frey, 90, a resident of the Broaddus Hospital Long Term Care Facility, formerly of Baughman Towers and Route 1, Moatsville, died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2003, in the Broaddus Hospital Acute Care Facility following an extended illness.
She was born Aug. 12, 1913, at Crellin, Md., the daughter of the late Albert and Addie Martin Uphold.
Her husband, Floyd Thamer Frey, preceded her in death on Jan. 14, 1965.
Surviving are two sons, John Thomas “Tom” Frey, of Moatsville, and Darl Eugene “Bevo” Frey of Philippi; four stepsons, Ralph “Chick” Frey and Charles “Boomer” Frey, both of Belington, George “Gus” Frey and Harold “Enoch” Frey, both of Moatsville; two stepdaughters, Margaret “Babe” Marsh of Moatsville and Edith Marsh of Philippi; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; 21 stepgrandchildren; several stepgreat-grandchildren and several stepgreat-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by two sons, Donald N. Semmelman and Louis D. Semmelman; by two stepsons, Floyd Thamer “Bus” Frey Jr. and Bob “Grapy” Frey; one stepdaughter, Christine Morris; one sister, Bernice Ritter; one brother, Howard Clayton Morris; one half brother, Henry Claypool; and one grandson, William Semmelman.
Mrs. Frey was a former cook in the Kasson School and Campbell’s Dairy King. She served as a senior companion.
She was a member of Philippi Chapter 41 Order of the Eastern Star, the Barbour County Senior Citizens and Nestorville United Methodist Church.
Friends were received at the Stemple & Forman Funeral Home in Philippi from 2 p.m. until 9 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Tuesday, when funeral services were conducted from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Kenny Kendall and the Rev. Dot Smith-Stewart officiating. Interment followed in the Cross Roads Cemetery. The Stemple & Forman Funeral Home was entrusted with arrangements. Because of a problem with transmission, this obituary failed to appear in Monday’s edition of The Inter-Mountain. The funeral home regrets the omission.
