Glen G. Guthrie 1921-2003 Obituary
Glen G. Guthrie, 81, of Route 2, Box 155, Excelsior community, Buckhannon, died Friday, Jan. 24, 2003, at 5 p.m. at his residence.
He was born Oct. 7, 1921, at Ellamore, a son of the late John A. and Abby Moss Guthrie.
On Aug. 10, 1942, he married Algana Guthrie, who survives in Buckhannon.
Also surviving are two daughters, Margaret Domine and husband, Norman, Allen Park, Mich., and Patricia Zilly and husband, Richard, Yorktown, Va.; four sisters, Gladys Spradley and Alma Rawls, both of Hampton, Va., Jane Lowe and Mildred Mulliken, both of Buckhannon; two granddaughters, Brigitte and husband Raymond Lipa Jr., Allen Park, Mich., and Diana Domine, Allen Park, Mich.; one grandson, Glen Zilly, Phoenix, Ariz.; one great-granddaughter, Brianna Lipa, Allen Park, Mich.; and one great-grandson, William Lipa, Allen Park, Mich.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Sterling Guthrie; and one sister, Ruth Guthrie.
He was an auto mechanic and owner of Guthrie Garage for 35 years. He was ordained as a Deacon in 1953 and was a member of Sand Run Baptist Church. He was a member of the coin and stamp club of Buckhannon.
Friends will be received at Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home today from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. On Tuesday, he will be moved to Sand Run Baptist Church, where he will lie in state from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m., the funeral hour, with the Rev. Donald Butcher and the Rev. Robert Poling officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Union Church Cemetery.
