Bernice T. Hamner 1905-2003 Obituary
Bernice T. Hamner, 98, a resident of Buckhannon, died Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2003, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Buckhannon.
She was born June 13, 1905, in Sago, the daughter of the late Anthony L. Tenney and Bertha Ours Tenney.
Her husband, Lyle A. Hamner, preceded her in death on June 20, 1940.
Surviving are three daughters, Virginia L. Allman of Wellsburg, Wilma Phillips and husband, John F., of French Creek, and Gloria R. Hamner of Buckhannon; one brother, Anthony L. Tenney Jr. of Roanoke, Va.; two sisters, Lillian O’Karen of Chicago, Ill., and Hazel Tenney of Tallmansville; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren and four stepgreat-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one infant daughter, four brothers, two sisters and one great-grandson.
Mrs. Hamner was a homemaker and a member of the Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church and the Extension Homemakers’ Club.
Friends will be received from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home where funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. David Fisher will officiate and interment will follow in the Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon.
