Katherine Hamrick 1915-2003 Obituary
Katherine Elizabeth Hamrick, 87, of Thomas, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2003, at Cortland Acres Nursing Home.
She was born May 27, 1915, in Thomas, a daughter of the late Alonzo Tecumseh and Florence Louise Coburn Shoemaker.
On July 5, 1941, she married Glen Hamrick, who preceded her in death in 1973.
One infant son, three brothers and three sisters also preceded her in death.
Survivors include one daughter, Elizabeth Jane and Tom DiBacco of Hambleton; two sons, Gary Hamrick of Surry, Va., and Alan Hamrick and wife, Judi Kennedy, of Middlebourne; three brothers, Harold “Jiggs” Shoemaker, a resident of Cortland Acres Nursing Home, Thomas, Jack and wife, Annabelle Shoemaker, of Morgantown, and Richard “Dick” and wife, Eunice Shoemaker, of Barberton, Ohio; one sister, Eleanor Kuski of Thomas; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Hamrick was a graduate of Thomas High School with the class of 1933. She was a homemaker and a Protestant by faith.
Friends will be received at Hinkle Funeral Home Saturday from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m., the funeral hour. The Rev. Dennis G. Shoemaker will officiate. Mrs. Hamrick’s remains will be cremated and interred in Rose Hill Cemetery at a later date. Hinkle Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
