Reta Haney 1913-2003 Obituary
Reta Haney, 89, of Audra Road, Route 1, Belington, passed away at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, March 7, 2003, at her home following an extended illness.
She was born July 27, 1913, at Mabie in Randolph County, the daughter of the late Mick and Carrie Hanifan Rowan.
On March 23, 1940, she was married to Douglas Patrick Haney, who preceded her in death on Dec. 23, 1989.
Surviving are one son, Jerry Lee Haney and wife, Nancy, Philippi; one daughter, Reta Jean Nestor and husband, Roger, Belington; four grandchildren, Traci Haney, Philippi, Amy Baker and husband, Vic, Morgantown, Jared Nestor and wife, Kim, Belington, and Stephanie Nestor, at student at West Virginia University; and one great-granddaughter, Gabrielle Haney Baker.
Mrs. Haney was also preceded in death by one sister, Elizabeth Rowan; and by three brothers, Carl Rowan, Richard Rowan and Ernest Rowan.
Mrs. Haney was a retired public school teacher. She was a member of the Belington Chapter 68 Order of the Eastern Star and the Barbour County Associated of Retired School Employees.
She was a member of the Rowan United Methodist Church and attended the Concord United Methodist Church.
Friends may call at the Schoonover-Stemple Funeral Chapel in Belington from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Sunday, when funeral services will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Jim Tallman and Pastor Bryan Headley officiating. Interment will follow in the Belington Fraternal Cemetery. The Schoonover-Stemple Funeral Chapel is entrusted with the arrangements.
