Loretta S. Hanifan 1937-2003 Obituary
Loretta Sue Koon Hanifan, 65, of Buckhannon, the Tennerton community, died Thursday, April 10, 2003, at her home.
She was born April 13, 1937, at Gould, a daughter of the late Dave Bosley and Bonita Tenney Bosley Hyre, who survives in Buckhannon.
She was married twice. First, she married Vernon Roy Koon, who preceded her in death. Second, she married Louis F. Hanifan, who survives in Woodbridge, Va.
In addition to her mother and husband, she is survived by a son, Jeff Hanifan, Buckhannon; two daughters, Debra Koon Dean, Buckhannon, and Wendy Koon Woofter, Three Lick Road, Buckhannon; two stepchildren, Cory Phillip Hanifan and Robinetta Alona Hanifan, both of Woodbridge, Va.; five grandchildren, Howard Dean, Brianna Woofter, Stephanie Woofter, Joshua Dean and Shania Dean; and two stepgrandchildren; two sisters, Helen Potts of Bridgeport and Karen Smith of Rootstown, Ohio; and a brother, Ronnie Bosley of Virginia Beach, Va.
She was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Vernon Koon, and a sister, Roseann Mearns Kiefer.
Mrs. Hanifan was a homemaker and attended the Adrian United Methodist Church where she was the song leader and piano player.
Friends will be received from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Tomblyn-Whitescarver Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday from the funeral chapel with the Rev. Nancy Killingsworth and the Rev. William Mooring officiating. Interment will follow at the Upshur County Memorial Park. Tomblyn-Whitescarver Funeral Chapel of Buckhannon is in charge of the arrangements for Loretta Sue Koon Hanifan.
