Richard Harlan II 1974-2003 Obituary
Richard Lee “Richie” Harlan II, 29, of the Jimtown community, passed away Friday, Oct. 24, 2003, as a result of injuries sustained in a coal mining accident.
He was born July 31, 1974, in Elkins, the son of Richard Lee Harlan and Teresa “Terri” Rowan Harlan, residents of Jimtown.
Also surviving are two sisters, Michelle Harlan Phillips and husband, Ritchie, of Elkins and Angie Harlan Isenhart and husband, Henry Brian Isenhart, of Beverly; his maternal grandmother, Violet Rowan of Elkins; four nieces, Racheal, Courtney, Cadie and Carrie; two nephews, Joshua and Jonathan; 15 aunts; 15 uncles; several cousins; and a special friend, Ashley Freeman.
Preceding him in death were his paternal grandparents, George and Lucy Harlan; his maternal grandfather, Garnet “Pee Wee” Rowan; and a cousin, Anthony Harlan.
Richie was a coal miner and an avid hunter.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Leon Hevener and the Rev. Donald Lockhart officiating. Interment will follow in the Phillips Cemetery at Jimtown. The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for Richard Lee “Richie” Harlan II.
