Sylvia K. Harris 1912-2003 Obituary
Sylvia Katherine Harris, 91, of Route 6, Box 218, Buckhannon, died Saturday, June 28, 2003, at the home of her son, Lewis Posey.
She was born April 12, 1912, in Gilmer County, a daughter of the late Scott and Svilla Pumphrey Riffle.
She was twice married. First, she married Timothy Posey, who preceded her in death. Second, she married Forrest Dale Harris, who preceded her in death.
Surviving are one daughter, Daisy Lewis, Buckhannon; four sons, Thomas Riffle, Tennessee, Lewis Posey, French Creek, and Howard Posey and Sam Posey, both of Buckhannon; one sister, Minnie, Pennsylvania; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Eugene Posey and Lester Posey; two brothers, Wilbert Sprouse and Edward Riffle; and five sisters, Mary Radcliff, Edna Thompson, Barbara Frashure, Gay Butcher and Ruth Stump.
She was a homemaker and a Methodist by faith.
Friends will be received at Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home today from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be in the funeral home chapel Tuesday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Jerry Heater officiating. Interment will follow in Ten Mile Baptist Cemetery at Ten Mile.
