It details how to make shakes and shingles
There is not much different between shakes and shingles, its more their application – shakes are for the exterior of a house, shingles are for the roof
The application method is the same, alternate the shakes/shingles offset 1/2 of a shake/shingle to help cover the join line and shed water, rather than let the water run between the join lines
In the past, that was it, today you would seal these with a sealer to help with the shedding of water
If left unsealed, they have a tendency to curl
