Jerry Carp Williams 1941-2008 Obituary
Jerry Carp Williams, age 66 years, a resident of Kerens and a former resident of Mill Creek and Davis, entered into rest to his eternal home at 3:00 A.M. Friday February 15, 2008 with his family by his side.
He had a seven year battle with cancer and he fought a good fight and kept his faith.
He was born April 30, 1941 at Mill Creek, a son of the late Rev. Foster Williams, Sr. and Mabel Rader Williams.
He is survived by his loving wife, Phyllis Arbogast Williams, whom he married on Nov. 28, 1964.
Also surviving are his two beloved children; Jerry Wayne Williams and wife Wendy, Peggy Leary, and four grandchildren; Mrs. Donnie (Tiffany) Nelson, Joshua Henline and wife Fallon, Taylor and Jerica Williams, three great granddaughters; Lexi and Faith Nelson, Joshalynn Henline, all which will carry on great memories of their husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Three brothers; Marshall Williams and wife Nancy of Mill Creek, Foster Williams, Jr. and wife Sue of Harding, Johnny Williams and wife Margie of Belington, three sisters, Betty Williams of Newton Falls, OH, Mrs. Donald (Maryn Gay) Shaw of Mill Creek, Mrs. Bill (Rachell) Lane of Belington, one brother in law, Wayne Bohon of Bridgeport and two sisters in law, Delores Williams of Coalton and Wilma Shinaberry and husband Henry of Greenbank also survive.
He is also survived by a special friend, Jimmy Shiflett and wife Karen of Mill Creek and over 100 nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.
Preceding him in death were two sister; Norma Bohon, Thelma McCauley Beck and four brothers; Carroll, Arnold, Dana and Ernie Williams.
Carp worked at area sawmills and was a coal miner for 32 years at Island Creek and Consol Coal Company until his retirement.
He was a member for eleven years of Riverview Chapel Church of Porterwood at Tucker County.
Friends may call from 6:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. Sunday, February 17, 2008 at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, February 18th, from the funeral home chapel with Rev. Marshall Williams, Rev. Dick Gadd and Rev. Foster Williams, Jr. officiating.
Interment will follow in the Parsons City Cemetery. The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for Jerry Carp Williams.
