John Anthony DeMotto 1949-2018 Obituary
John Anthony DeMotto, age 69 years, a resident of Elkins, WV departed this life Monday evening, December 3, 2018 at the Elkins Rehabilitation & Care Center at Elkins, WV. He had been in declining health.
He was born Wednesday, November 23, 1949 at Elkins, WV a son of Patricia DeMotto Zirkle, who survives.
He was previously married to the former Diane Sanders, who survives. Also surviving are one son, Jeremy Walker DeMotto; one daughter, Angela Marie Hart and husband, Jeff; three brothers, David Michael Zirkle, Richard Leon “Rick” Zirkle and Foreman Benjamin “Benny” Zirkle, Jr.; three grandchildren, Nathan, Elliott, and Andrew Hart and three aunts, Anita Goddin, Betty Ross and Mary Jo DeMotto.
Preceding him in death are his grandparents, Joseph and Marietta DeMotto, whom he dearly loved, and his stepfather, Foreman Benjamin “Ben” Zirkle, Sr.,
He was a graduate of Coalton High School, with the Class of 1967 and attended Potomac State College. He was a heavy equipment mechanic and a truck driver and later was a Barber in Elkins. He was a member of the Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church. He was a sports enthusiast and an avid Pittsburgh Pirates fan.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins from 9 AM to 10 AM, Friday, December 7, 2018 at which time he will be moved to the Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church at Coalton where the Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM. The Rev. Father Jim O’Conner will be the Presider and interment will follow at the Saint Brendan Cemetery at Elkins, WV.
