Whittlin Jim is an alternate author name for Ben Hunt
A good project to learn or practice detail carving
A drill is used to hollow out the center and drill the finger holes
The finger holes can be easily carved with a carving knife
I think this is a good project to practice whittling, and you get a finished project out of it with the flute
Bamboo is not a common whittling wood, but it works out well and can provide a new experience for some wood carvers
W Ben Hunt created the Whittlin Jim and Lone Eagle names, and published articles under all three name – Ben Hunt wrote 2-4 articles per month for Boy’s Life, and I think he created the Whittlin Jim and Lone Eagle to make is seem like there were multiple authors writing the articles
