Ruth D. Watson Moore, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother, departed this life on Sunday, November 1, 2020 at her home surrounded by her loving family and under the care of Mountain Hospice.
She was born September 1, 1932 at Mabie, WV, a daughter of the late Rufus C. and Rebecca J. Shreve Watson.
Ruth was a lifelong resident of Mabie and an active member of the Rowan Memorial United Methodist Church.
She touched the lives of many people.
On September 24, 1960 she was wed to Roy L. Moore who preceded her in death on July 11, 2019.
Ruth worked several years at Reidbord Brothers and later as a substitute cook at Coalton Twelve Year School. She and Roy loved Southern Gospel Concerts and family gatherings. Preceding her in death besides her husband and parents were their son, Kevin Lee Moore and grandson Daniel Wayne Wyatt; five brothers, Willard C., Clifford D., Howard D., John C. and Thomas R. Watson; five sisters, Edith M. Ratliff, Ruby J. George, Thelma M. Rowan, Anna B. Currence and infant Rebecca E. Watson. Left to cherish Ruth’s memory are her daughters Valerie S. Jones (Michael), Fairmont, WV and Rebecca A. Miller (William), Mabie, WV; two foster sons, George Studer, Lindsay Studer and one sister Edna M. Shockey; two sisters-in-law, June Watson and Wanda Watson of Ohio. Ruth also cherished her beloved grandchildren having nine grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. The family would like to offer a special thank you to April Bailey and staff of Mountain Hospice as well as other care givers. Friends may call from 6:00 pm until 8:00 PM Wednesday, November 4, 2020 at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, November 5, 2020 from the funeral home chapel with Rev. Stella Faye Moyer officiating. Interment will follow at the Mountain State Memorial Gardens near Gilman, WV. Masks and social distancing will be required for those attending the services for Mrs. Moore. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Rowan Memorial United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 184, Mabie, WV 26278 in memory of Mrs. Moore.
