Orpha Mae Evans Dove Obituary 1925-2013
Orpha Mae Evans Dove, 87, a resident of St. George, and for the past 12 years a resident of Cortland Acres at Thomas, departed this life early Saturday morning, Jan. 5, 2013, at Cortland Acres.
She was born Tuesday, Oct. 6, 1925, at Leadmine, St. George, a daughter of the late Elliot Evans and the former Martha Smith.
She was married to Theodore Arlie “Ted” Dove, who preceded her in death.
Surviving are two daughters, Norma Jean Lansberry of Leadmine, and Beverly June Snyder and husband, John, of Grafton; one brother, Charles Evans of Ohio; five grandchildren, James Lansberry, Pam Moreland, Jenese Lansberry, Justin Jones and Shasta Jones; four great-grandchildren, Megan Pugh, Shilah Jones, Zoey Hebb and Joel Jones; and one great-great-granddaughter, Adalyn Pugh.
Preceding her in death are one son, James Bernard Dove; two brothers, Elmer Evans and Freeman Evans; and three sisters, Ina Henline, Virgie Sell and Lilly Sell.
She attended the one- room school at Shafertown. She was a homemaker.
She was a member of the Leadmine United Methodist Church and St. George United Methodist Church. She was an avid quilter and won a blue ribbon at the Tucker County Fair. She loved her church and her family.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons today from 5 to 8 p.m.
Final rites will be conducted from the funeral home parlor on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2012, at 11 a.m. The Rev. Neil Precht will officiate and interment will follow at the Shafertown Cemetery at Shafertown.
