Gerald Ray Humphrey Obituary 1948-2013
Gerald Ray Humphrey, 64, of Selbyville, died Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pa.
He was born in Upshur County on July 11, 1948, a son of the late Mary Jane Humphrey Cogar.
He is survived by his wife, Ritta Henry Humphrey; three daughters, Angela Russell and husband, Mark, of Rock Cave, Gina Humphrey, of Morgantown, and Nicole Humphrey of Rock Cave; two sons, Marty Humphrey and wife, Shellie, of French Creek, and Billy Humphrey of Rock Cave; five grandchildren, Dominic Humphrey, Kirk Russell, Megan Russell, Chelsea Humphrey and Heather Humphrey; five brothers, Ernie Cogar and wife, Kim, of French Creek, Donald Cogar and wife, Leslie, of Buckhannon, Charles Cogar and wife, Donna, of Selbyville, Dennis Cogar and wife, Ginger, of Rock Cave, and Harold Cogar of Charleston; and five sisters, Ruby Reed and husband, Gary, of Buckhannon, Opal Woodson and husband, Albert, of Selbyville, Lila Cogar and companion, Rob Hull, of Selbyville, Lois Mackey and husband, Ed, of Buckhannon, and Connie Cogar of Selbyville.
On July 25, 1970, he was united in marriage to his first wife, Winifred “Wendy” Reed Humphrey, who preceded him in death on June 18, 1998.
Also preceding him in death were three brothers, Stanley Cogar, James Humphrey and Herbert K. Cogar; and one sister, Anita Mae Sayre Cutright.
Mr. Humphrey was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.
The family received friends on Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013, at Heavner and Cutright Funeral Chapel. The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. today from the funeral chapel, with Pastor Terry Gower officiating. Interment will following the Pleasant Dale Cemetery, where the Buckhannon VFW Post 3663, the Frank B. Bartlett Post 7 American Legion and the DAV Chapters 5 and 36 will conduct military honors.
