Annabell Florence Lipps, 83, of Buckhannon, died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, at her home while under the care of St. Joseph’s Hospice.
She was born Aug. 1, 1929. in Gilmer County, a daughter of the late Virgil Jay and Ora Wilmoth Spore.
On March 25, 1953, she married Riley Blaine “Mutt” Lipps Sr., who preceded her in death March 22, 2003.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Joe Riffle and Daniel Joseph Lipps; two daughters, Barbara Cottrill and Annamae Lipps; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Robert and Raymond Spore; and two sisters, Rita Lowther and Mabel Lough.
She is survived by six sons, Virgil Daniel Lipps, Riley Lipps Jr., Bernie Lipps and wife, Mary, and Woody Riffle and wife, Barbara, all of Buckhannon, Ernest Lipps of Gassaway and Riley Roscoe Eugene “Crow” Lipps and wife, Deborah, of Century; two daughters, Mary Perrine and husband, Jack, of Century and Faye Zirkle and husband, Sam, of Beverly; 29 grandchildren, 58 great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Virgil Jay “Bud” Spore of Hackers Creek; one sister, Virgie Landers of Buckhannon; and special friends, Leona Smith and James Wilmoth both of Buckhannon.
Mrs. Lipps worked at West Virginia Wesleyan College in housekeeping. She was Pentecostal by faith and was a student of the literacy volunteers.
Friends will be received Sunday, Jan. 20, from 5 to 9 p.m. at Poling-st. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Wease L. Day officiating. Burial will follow in Peterson Cemetery in Weston.
