Gareld Poling Obituary 1921-2013
Gareld Poling, 91, of Buckhannon, died Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, at Davis Memorial Hospital in Elkins.
He was born Sept. 21, 1921, in Ellamore, a son of the late William Eli and Lavinia Hornbeck Poling.
On Aug. 18, 1949, he married Mary Wonyetye, who survives at Buckhannon.
Also surving are two sons, Bill Poling and wife, Gail, and Matthew Poling and wife, Mateal, all of Buckhannon; four granddaughters, Mikaela, Mikenze, Mikinna Poling and Colleen Claypoole and husband, Jason, all of Buckhannon; and great- grandchildren, Hannah, Austin, Allie, Bryce and Jenna; one grandson, Luke Eli Poling and wife, Rachel, of Vandali, and great- granddaughter, Meadow; twin brother, Gerald Poling of Texas; two sisters, Lorraine Moran, of Elkins, and Vera Laskowski and husband, Sidney, of Elyria, Ohio; four nieces, Linda Sharon Collins of Lakeland, Fla., Greta Kuhl and husband, Kenna, of Canal Fulton, Ohio, Vera Hammond and husband, Bob, of Fayetteville, N.C., and Dotti Jilek and husband, Bill, of Elyria; and one nephew, Robert Cummons and wife, Joan, of Elyria.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Greta Cummons.
Mr. Poling was a custodian for Moore Business Forms of Buckhannon. He was a member of Nays Chapel United Methodist Church, of the Middle Fork IOOF and he served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Friends will be received Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Poling-st. Clair Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Ralph Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Union Church Cemetery in Tallmansville. Buckhannon VFW Post 3663, Frank B. Bartlett Post 7 American Legion and DAV Chapters 5 & 36 will conduct military honors at the graveside.
