Betty L. Flanagan Spencer Obituary 1937-2013
Betty L. Flanagan Spencer, 75, of Elkins, and formerly of Buckhannon, died Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, in Hospice Care In-patient Center of Elkins.
She was born Aug. 9, 1937, at Lantz, a daughter of the late Clarence and Rosie Hamilton Flanagan.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Robert Cecil and Richard Kisner; six brothers, Clarence Junior, Paul, Amos, Roger, Stanley and Earl Flanagan; and one sister, Helen Flanagan.
She is survived by four daughters, Connie Elmore and husband, Timothy, of Norton, Brenda L. Stout and husband, Douglas, Melissa Anderson and husband, Roger, all of Buckhannon and Rebecca Spencer of Elkins; two sons, Larry Steven Kisner of Morgantown and Kenneth E. Spencer and wife, Kathy, of Buckhannon; 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lester Ray Flanagan of Kingsville and Herbert “Bud” Flanagan of Belington; and three sisters, Lucille Spencer of Junior, Louise Esposito of Belington and Mae Chapman of Melbourne, Fla.
Mrs. Spencer was a homemaker and a Christian by faith. She was a volunteer for the Salvation Army and the Upshur Parish House.
Friends will be received Monday, Jan. 21, from 5 to 9 p.m. at Poling-st. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Bobbie Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in Phillips Chapel Cemetery in Jimtown.
