Nancy Ann Buckreus Martin Obituary 1935-2013
Nancy Ann Buckreus Martin, 77, a resident of Elkins, departed this life, Wednesday evening, Jan. 9, 2013, at her home.
She was born Monday, May 27, 1935, at Hartford, Wis., daughter of the late John Claude and Laura Zilch Buckreus.
On Saturday, May 9, 1981, she was united in marriage to John Perry Martin Jr., who preceded her in death March 2, 2012.
Surviving are two sons, James Douglas Oleson and wife, Michiru Sugiyama Oleson, of Bloomington, Ind., and John Christopher Oleson of Elkins; two grandchildren, John Shiro Oleson and Laura Kimie Oleson; two brothers, Allan John Buckreus of Redding, Calif., and Larry David Buckreus; and five nieces and nephews and their children.
Also preceding her in death were one son; Douglas Dean Oleson Jr.; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Nancy attended the public schools of Hobart, Ind., and graduated with the class of 1953. She received a Bachelor of Arts from Lawrence College in Appleton, Wis., a Bachelor of Science from Davis & Elkins College and a Master of Education from West Virginia Wesleyan College.
She taught in the states of Washington, Indiana, and Randolph County in West Virginia. After leaving the classroom, she tutored privately for many years. After retirement, she taught math at the Abundant Life Christian Academy.
The family will receive friends at Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins Saturday, Jan. 12, from 11 a.m. to 1 .m., the funeral hour. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home Saturday at 1 p.m. The Rev. Dr. Basil A. Hensley will officiate, and interment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery at Elkins.
