Anthony J. Griffin, 73, of Reedy, died Monday, Dec. 31, 2012, in Roane General Hospital at Spencer.
He was born Jan. 8, 1939, at Chicago, Ill. a son of the late Ambrose Edward and Ann Elaine Avington Griffin.
Mr. Griffin was a retired geologist in the oil and gas industry. He graduated from West Virginia Wesleyan College and was an Army Green Berets veteran. He was commissioned as an officer in the Army.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Lewellen Griffin of Reedy; stepdaughters, Angie Lewellen of Reedy, Debbie Pardal of North Carolina, and Holly Shepherd of New York; four stepgrandchildren; brother, Maurice Griffin of Ellamore; sisters, Mary Halpin of Denver, Colo., Carolyn Stevens of Northfield, Vt., Pat Shadis of Edgecomb, Maine, and Priscilla McMurray of Buckhannon; nieces and nephews; and in 2005, Tony welcomed Scott, his wife, Nicole and four grandchildren into his family.
There was no service or visitation. Tony has been cremated, and burial will be at a later date.
