Mary Adeline Ferruso, 89, of Clarksburg, departed this life April 10, 2013, in Ruby Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.

She was born at Coalton, on July 4, 1932, a daughter of the late Romeo and Marie DiBocco Silvester.

Her husband, John A. Ferruso Sr., preceded her in death Aug. 16, 1996.

Mrs. Ferruso is survived by her son, Rod Ferruso and wife, Joann, of Clarksburg; one daughter-in-law, Diane Fulks; six grandchildren, Julie Capello and husband, Mike, Jenny Ferruso, John Anthony Ferruso III, Nicholas Ferruso, Mary Jo Ferruso and Michael Ferruso; and two great-grandchildren, Anabel Grace Capello and Vincent John Capello. Also surviving are two brothers, Joe Silvester and wife, Idia, of Elkins, and Anthony Silvester and wife, Jeanie, of Norton; two sisters, Pauline Johnson of Elkins and Magdeline DeMotto and husband, Hugh, of Red Creek; three sisters-in-law, Esther Silvester of Coalton, Midge Silvester of Elkins and Teresa Ferruso of Carle Place, N.Y.; two brothers-in-law, Joe Ferruso of Willowick, Ohio, and Orlando Ferruso and wife, Lou, of Catonsville, Md.; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Ferruso was preceded in death by one son, John A. Ferruso Jr.; her brothers, John and Vincent Fred Silvester; her sisters, Elizabeth May and Helen “Dollie” Silvester; brother-in-law, Otto Ferruso; sister-in-law, Fran Ferruso; sister-in-law, Agnes Ann Ferruso; brother-in-law John B. Johnson; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Wayne and Esther Helmick, Gene and Virginia Wilson and Willie and Mary Suder.

Mrs. Ferruso was retired from the Harrison County School Board as a reading tutor. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and a longtime former member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Shinnston. She was a member of St. Ann’s Altar Society, Catholic Daughters of America Court 334, Harrison County and West Virginia State Retired School Personnel.

Family and friends may call at Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison St. in Nutter Fort Sunday, April 13, from noon to 8 p.m. There will be a prayer service at 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 126 E. Pike St., Clarksburg Monday at 10 a.m. with Father Casey Mahone as celebrant. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery.
