Jackie D. Loftis Obituary 1936-2013
Jackie D. Loftis, age 76 years, a resident of Elkins, passed away at 1:05 A.M. Sunday, April 14, 2013 at the Hospice Care Regional Inpatient Center. He was born Aug. 25, 1936 at Sumerco, WV a son of the late Estil and Marie Estep Loftis. On April 7, 1960 in Elkins he was married to Betty Lea Grant Loftis who preceded him in death on November 4, 2004. Surviving are three sons, Jerry Lee Loftis, Tumon, Guam, Paul Wayne Loftis of Mountain House, CA and John David Loftis of Elkins. One brother, Eugene Rose of Florida, two sisters, Norma Loftis Roberts of Sumerco, WV and Brenda Doody of Florida and five grandchildren also survive. In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by one son, Jeffrey Lynn Loftis and one brother, Gerald Loftis. Jackie was employed as a Surveyor for the West Virginia Department of Highways prior to his retirement. He attended the First Baptist Church in Elkins. Friends may call from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Thursday, April 18, 2013 at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am Friday, April 19th from the funeral home chapel with Rev. Dr. Marvin L. Parli officiating. Interment will follow in the Mountain State Memorial Gardens near Gilman. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Elkins, 412 Randolph Ave., Elkins, WV 26241 in memory of Mr. Loftis. The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for Jackie D. Loftis.
