Twila Mae Tots Cross Carr Obituary 1945-2013
Twila Mae “Tots” Cross Carr, 67, a resident of Montrose, departed this life Sunday morning April 14, 2013, at her home in Montrose, with her loving family at her side.
She was born Monday, Aug. 27, 1945, at Dry Fork, a daughter of the late Luke and Liza Katherine Wilfong Cross.
On June 30, 1969, at Oakland, Md., she was married to Alvie Clarence Carr, who survives. They had celebrated 43 years of marriage.
Also surviving are two daughters, Pamela Sue Howell and husband, William, of Elkins and Katherine Ann Waybright and husband, Troy, of Parsons; three brothers, Ronald Cross of Elkins, Delmar Cross and wife, Eleanor, of Ohio, and Kenneth Cross and wife, Susan, of North Carolina; one sister, Evelyn Taylor of Elkins, to whom she was very close; five grandchildren, Dillon, Samantha, Corey, William “B.J.” and Douglas; four great-grandchildren, Dominic, Adrianna, Jace and Brooklyn Mae; three stepgranddaughters, Miranda, Billie Jean and Ariel; and four stepgreat-grandchildren; Desmond, Raven, Conner and Aura.
Preceding her in death were one grandson, Dustin Lee Waybright; and two brothers, James and Bernard Cross.
She was a graduate of Harman High School with the class of 1965, where she played point guard for the basketball team. She was a former waitress for Howard Johnson and Alpine Shores and was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy. She enjoyed the flea market, collecting old glassware and listened to gospel music every night before bed. She was a kind and giving person and will be sadly missed and never forgotten.
The family will receive friends at Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home chapel, Thursday at 2 p.m. The Rev. Stephen Pyle will officiate, and interment will follow in Mountain State Memorial Gardens at Gilman.
