Ellen Marie Moats, 79, of Route 1, Moatsville, died early Thursday morning, Jan. 31, 2002, in Broaddus Hospital Long Term Care Facility following an extended illness.
Mrs. Moats was born Nov. 14, 1922, in Moatsville, a daughter of the late Otis and Mamie Freeman Nestor.
On Dec. 7, 1942, she married Willis Henry Moats, who survives at Route 1, Moatsville.
Also surviving are a daughter, Joyce Keene and husband, Michael, Moatsville; two sons, Donald Lee Moats and wife, Pauline, Philippi, Gene Moats and wife, Carolyn, Moatsville; a brother, Hubert Nestor, Moatsville; two sisters, Treva Tenney, Philippi, and Dollie Vincent, Fairmont; three grandchildren, Charles Lee Moats and Brian Lee Moats, both of Philippi, and Becky Hentschel, Charleston; three great-granddaughters, Amber Moats, Johnna Moats and Tia Moats; and a great-grandson, Nikki Moats.
She was preceded in death by four sisters, Bernice Nestor, Lena Green, Linda M. Resch and an infant, Dorothy Nestor; and a brother, Delbert Nestor.
Mrs. Moats was a homemaker. She, along with her husband, operated Moatsville Market for more than 25 years.
Funeral Arrangements: Friends may call at Stemple & Forman Funeral Home in Philippi today from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m., the funeral hour, with the Rev. Gary Freeman officiating. Interment will follow in Central Chapel Cemetery.
