William “Willie” Benton Henry, 57, a resident of Kerens, passed away Monday, Nov. 25, 2002, at 2:19 p.m. in Davis Memorial Hospital, after suffering a heart attack while hunting at Ferguson’s Hollow. Death was sudden and unexpected.

He was born June 13, 1945, in Parsons, a son of the late Hugh and Gay Heatherly Henry.

On Sept. 9, 1977, he was united in marriage to the former Lois Wellman Moore, who survives at Kerens. They had celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary in September.

Besides his wife, he is survived by five daughters, Stephanie Arbogast and husband, Donnie, of Thomas, Patty Halstead and husband, Larry, of Elkins, Linda Simmons of Elkins, Norma Pharis of Beverly, and Kathy Lansberry of Elkins; two sons, Doug Wellman and wife, Michelle, of Martinsburg, and Billy Moore II of Aldie, Va.; one brother, Melvin Henry of Montrose; 19 grandchildren, one great-grandson, one great-granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death besides his parents were one infant brother and one grandson, Kenneth Falls

He was employed by Kingsford Charcoal Plant as a foreman and leadman until becoming disabled due to a heart condition and retired in 2000. He was an avid Jeff Gordon and NASCAR fan. He loved antique car shows and had acquired a few of his own. He was an avid hunter and also liked to fish. He was an active member of the Abundant Life Christian Center, where he participated faithfully in the Men’s Group. He formerly attended Gospel Light Tabernacle. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Vietnam Conflict.

Friends will be received at Abundant Life Christian Center Thursday after 7 p.m. On Friday, funeral services will be conducted from the church at 2 p.m. The Rev. Curley Ray of Abundant Life Christian Center and Pastor Terry Cannon of the Believers Fellowship and the Shiloh Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Mountain State Memorial Gardens in Gilman. Full military rites will be conducted at the gravesite by the Tygart Valley Post 3647 and the H.W. Daniels Post 29 American Legion. The F.E. Runner Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for William “Willie” Benton Henry.
