Arbutis Collett Wilson, 63, a resident of Parsons, departed this life early Sunday morning, Dec. 29, 2002, at Ruby Memorial Hospital at Morgantown. She had been in declining health and death was attributed to respiratory failure.
She was born Aug. 23, 1939, at Hambelton, a daughter of the late Howard P. Collett and Elma Mallow Collett.
On March 8, 1960, at Oakland, Md., she was married to Clinton K. Wilson, who survives. They had celebrated 42 years of marriage.
Surviving are one son, David Lee Kyle and wife, Amber, of Parsons; two daughters, Debra Lynn Goss and husband, John, and Cynthia Kay “Cindy” Helmick, all of Parsons; two brothers, John Collett and Maxine, Thomas, and Roger Lee Collett and Mildred, Parsons; and seven grandchildren, Melissa Arnold, Jeffrey “Buck” Helmick, Kelsey and Kenzie Kyle, all of Parsons, Angie Helmick, Morgantown, David Kyle, Clarksburg, and Kayla Kyle, Frederick, Md.
She attended the Hamrick School at Hendricks, Parsons High School and graduated from Davis & Elkins College with the class of 1968 as a licensed practical nurse. She worked for the former Memorial General Hospital at Elkins for 18 years. She was a member of the Nurse’s Association and was a co-founder of the Concerned Citizens Coalition of Parsons, the “Cookie Ladies.” She had a great love for flowers, gardening and most of all, her children.
Friends will be received at Barb & Greenlief Funeral Home today from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home parlor Tuesday at 1 p.m. Pastor Dick Gadd will officiate and interment will follow at Parsons City Cemetery. The Barb & Greenlief Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for Arbutis Collett Wilson.
