Coleman E. Wilfong 1917-2002 Obituary
Coleman E. Wilfong, 85, of 111 Randolph St., Buckhannon, died Friday, Sept. 27, 2002, at his home in Buckhannon. He was under the care of St. Joseph’s Hospice Care.
He was born June 12, 1917, in Tallmansville, a son of the late Cain and Ellen Tenney Wilfong.
On Dec. 8, 1939, he married Mary Lena Warner Wilfong, who survives in Buckhannon.
Also surviving are two sons, Lonnie Wilfong, Buckhannon, and David Wilfong, French Creek; three daughters, Mary Ellen Miracle, Palm Bay, Fla., Helen Bennett, Statesville, N.C., and Linda Jarrell, Charleston; one sister, Frantie Warner, Hodgesville; 12 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, one stepgreat-grandson and six stepgreat-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his stepmother, Mary Katherine Wilfong; one son, Robert Wilfong; one daughter, Ruth Ann Hamilton; three brothers, Opha Wilfong, Emerson Wilfong and Carroll Wilfong; five sisters, Ora Bennett, Ethel Wilfong, Myrtle Hornbeck, Addie Mae Wilfong and Reta Pearl Wilfong.
He was a security guard for West Virginia Wesleyan College and Coastal Lumber.
Friends will be received at Poling-st. Clair Funeral Home today from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be in the funeral home chapel Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Michael Tallman officiating. Interment will follow in Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Joseph’s Hospital Hospice, 1 Amalia Drive, Buckhannon or Calvary Baptist Church, Kanawha Street, Buckhannon.
