Stephen Ted Hamilton, 56, a resident of East Dailey, passed away Friday, Oct. 11, 2002, at his residence.
He was born Sept. 28, 1946, at Baltimore, Md., a son of Lenore Maxine Mclaughlin Hamilton, who survives, and the late Teddy Paul Hamilton.
On Sept. 23, 1973, at Solomons, Md., he married the former Jane Ann Schertle, who survives at East Dailey.
Also surviving are three sons, Christopher Lee Hamilton, Timothy Neil Hamilton and Scott Ryan Hamilton, all of East Dailey; two daughters, Gina Marie Hamilton of Mill Creek, and Jennifer Lynn Hamilton of East Dailey; and one grandchild.
Mr. Hamilton served with the U.S. Army First Calvary Division in the Vietnam War, where he became disabled. He earned the Vietnam Service Medal with three bronze service stars, the National Defense Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge Sharpshooter with a rifle and was presented with a Purple Heart. He was a member of the First Calvary Division Association, a member of B.R.A.V.O. (Brotherhood Rally of All Veterans Organization), lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans and a member of the American Legion Post 274 of Lusby, Md. He had formerly worked as a coal miner for SS Joe Burford Coal Co. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Elkins.
At the request of the deceased, his remains were cremated. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church in Elkins with the Rev. Dr. Marvin L. Parli officiating. Entombment of the cremains will take place at a later date at the Arlington National Cemetery at Washington, D.C. Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements.
