Richard L. Uncle Dick Ash 1937-2002 Obituary
Richard L. “Uncle Dick” Ash, 65, of 1662 Warchester Ave., Lake Milton, Ohio, died at 2:15 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 4, 2002, at his home. Death was attributed to cancer.
Mr. Ash was born March 9, 1937, at Harding, a son of the late Louie “Shorty” Ash and Nora Hebb.
On May 21, 1966, he married Charlotte Day, who survives.
Also surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Patrick and Shannon Harnichar, Newton Falls, Ohio; two sisters, Shirley Bradley, Coalton, and Nyoka Acord, Harding; one brother and sister-in-law, Domnic and Janie Ash, Junior; three nephews, Louis Bartlett and wife, Kay, Lake Milton, Ohio, Gerald Bartlett and wife, Willie, Bristolville, Ohio, and Domnic Bartlett, Lake Milton, Ohio, and several other nieces and nephews; and two granddaughters, Rachel and Hanna Harnichar, both of Newton Falls, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Marcalene Kyer and Rosemary Bartlett Biskupich.
He lived in Lake Milton, Ohio, for 40 years, formerly of West Virginia. He retired in December 2001 as a laborer for Everbright Blacktop Sealer. He previously worked at Baird Brothers Sawmill and Rockwell International Buff Department until 1976. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army
He graduated from Coalton High School in Coalton. He was a life member of the American Legion Post 737 in Lake Milton and was a member of the Fat Man’s club in Lake Milton. He loved to coon hunt, make wine and can hot peppers with Norm Vebaski, Terry Morran and his nephew, Domnic.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at Lake Milton Baptist Temple at 11 a.m. Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at the church. Burial will be at Palmyra Cemetery. Contributions may be made to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St., Youngstown, Ohio, 44512.
