Robert John “Bobby” Hanger, 59, a resident of 1512 S. Davis Ave., Elkins, passed away Saturday morning, July 6, 2002, at his home. His death was sudden and unexpected.
He was born May 3, 1943, in Randolph County, a son of Hazel Hart Hanger with whom he made his home, and the late Virgil Crawford “Ikey” Hanger.
He had never married.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by two sisters, Becky Shomo Hintz of Elkins, and Mrs. Joe (Mary Jane) Bertelli of Elkins; one nephew, Scott Ford Shomo, Suffolk, Va.; one stepniece, Christina Bertelli of South Charleston; two great-nieces, Brooke and Nicole Shomo of Suffolk, Va.; one aunt, Alice Hart of Elkins; and several cousins.
He was a graduate of the Romney School for the Deaf and Blind in 1961. He attended the Elkins Church of God and Family Worship Center, where he very much enjoyed the Deaf Class held at the church.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. today at Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Randall Richards and Jeanne Gardner Hart officiating. Interment will follow in the K of P Cemetery near Junior.
