Erma Virginia Winans, 79, of Chestnut Street, Belington, died Sunday, March 10, 2002, in Davis Memorial Hospital, Elkins, following a brief illness.
She was born Nov. 24, 1922, near Boulder community, Barbour County, a daughter of the late Clyde and Daisy Lantz Winans.
Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Connie Sue and Larry Shahan, with whom she made her home; two grandchildren, Robert Chester Shahan and Clista Dawn Shahan, both of Chestnut Street, Belington; and nine nieces and nephews, Donna Jo Weese, Deloras Jean Wagner, Denver James Winans, Darlene Joy Murphy, Donald Junior Winans, Jerry Ray Anderson, Elwood Rosencrance, Ray Rosencrance and Dianne Suder.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Margie Anderson; and one brother, Donald Winans.
Ms. Winans was a member of the Belington Church of Christ and a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Laurel Mountain Post 410, VFW.
Friends may call at Schoonover-stemple Funeral Chapel in Belington from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Thursday, when funeral services will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with Albert Farley of Salem officiating. Interment will follow in Concord Cemetery. The Ladies Auxiliary of Laurel Mountain Post 410 will conduct a memorial service at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel.
