James Dyer Wilkins, 67, of Riverton, died Saturday, Oct. 19, 2002, at his home.
He was born April 1, 1935, at Elkins, a son of the late Jack C. Wilkins and Dorothy Dyer Wilkins.
He was a farmer. He was a member of the Circleville Presbyterian Church, West Virginia Farm Bureau, a charter member of the National Cattleman’s Association, West Virginia Cattlemen’s Association, National Rifle Association and past director of Pendleton County Bank.
On June 14, 1960, he married Jane Fisher Wilkins, who survives.
Also surviving are three children, James Dyer Wilkins II and wife, Cynthia S. Wilkins, of Riverton, Ann Wilkins Daughtry and husband, Darren R. Daughtry, of Auburn, Pa., and John Andrew Wilkins and wife, Carmen Rexrode, of Milam; two sisters, Jacqueline W. Upp of Cecilton, Md., and Dorothy W. Miller of Blacksburg, Va.; one brother, Jack C. Wilkins of Hillsboro; and eight grandchildren, Tyler Wilkins, Hannah Wilkins, Dorothy Daughtry, Jane Daughtry, Earl Daughtry, Arlan Daughtry, Joseph Wilkins and Simon Wilkins.
He was preceded in death by one son, Joseph Fisher Wilkins, on Dec. 16, 2000.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Circleville Presbyterian Church with the Rev. William Cox officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at the Circleville Presbyterian Church. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Kimble Funeral Home in Franklin.
