Joan C. Fortney Wilson, 69, of Route 4, Buckhannon, the Kesling Mill Community, died Wednesday, April 10, 2002, in St. Joseph’s Hospital.
Mrs. Wilson was born April 1, 1933, in Upshur County, a daughter of the late James Oscar and Milo Madline Jack Fortney.
She married Charles Wilson, who preceded her in death.
Surviving are her stepmother, Ruthie Fortney of Buckhannon; one daughter, Debra and husband, Jose Rolenson, of Route 4, Buckhannon, the Kesling Mill Community; five sons, Jeffrey and wife, Janis Ball, Carlton and wife, Carla Ball, Timothy and wife, Joyce Ball, Scott and wife, Coachie Ball, and Patrick and wife, Rebecca Ball, all of Route 4, Buckhannon, the Kesling Mill Community; 14 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, a special friend, Robert Phillips, Elkins; two sisters, Josephine Sines, Raleigh, N.C., and Katherine Jane Deering, Washington; one brother, James Fortney, Buckhannon; five half sisters, Junie Trainer, Bonnie Tenney, Diane Wright and Pam Landis, all of Buckhannon, and Mary Chandler, Port Orange, Fla.; and two half brothers, Ronald Fortney and Bob Fortney, Buckhannon.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Norma Jean Colman and Ruthie Eckes.
Mrs. Wilson was a personal care giver and senior companion. She attended South Buckhannon Mission Church.
Friends will be received at Tomblyn-whitescarver Funeral Chapel today from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be in the funeral home chapel Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Dennis Estes officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery.
