Dale V. Staley, 75, formerly of Callen Avenue, Morgantown, died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2002, in Madison Rehabilitation Center.
Mr. Staley was born July 13, 1926, in Morgantown, a son of the late Arthur D. and Ruth Catlett Staley.
He married Neva Staley, who survives. They had been married for 55 years.
Surviving are two daughters, Rita J. Friend and husband, David B., Morgantown, and Tama P. Southard and husband, Don, Kannapolis, N.C.; a son, Dale V. Staley II and wife, Sarah, Mt. Pleasant, N.C.; a brother, Brinley Staley and wife, Marjorie Staley, Morgantown; a sister, Patty Barthlow, Scott Depot; a sister-in-law, Betty Staley; three grandchildren, Christopher D. Southard, Morgantown, Justin D. Southard, Kannapolis, N.C., and Meghan E. Staley, Mt. Pleasant, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Blaine Staley.
Mr. Staley was a graduate of Morgantown High School. He was employed by University Supply Co. as a salesman and manager in the Morgantown and Kingwood areas for 40 years. He retired in 1983.
He also worked at West Virginia University Physical Plant and Marrara Oil Co. in Kingwood.
He was a veteran and served in the U.S. Army with the 74th Ordinance Depot Co. stationed in the Pacific from 1944-1946. He was a member of the Morgantown VFW Post 548.
He was a cradle roll member of Spruce Street United Methodist Church.
Funeral Arrangements: Friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home today from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 10 am. until 11 a.m., the funeral hour, with the Rev. William Turley and the Rev. Dr. Stacy L. Groscup officiating. Interment will follow in Lawnwood Cemetery.
