Edna Smith, 85, of Isner Creek Road, Elkins, died at 4:15 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2002, at her home following an extended illness.
Mrs. Smith was born May 3, 1916, in Elkins, a daughter of the late Robert Lee and Jessie Lou Kelly Kerns.
She married Claude James Smith, who preceded her in death on April 15, 1985.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Henry (Barbara) Simmons, Elkins; three grandchildren, Kelly Simmons, Lisa Runner and Amy Harris; and two great-grandchildren, Rebekah and Joseph Harris.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Arno Kerns; and two sisters, Beulah Everett and Mary Kerns.
Mrs. Smith attended the schools of Randolph County and was employed as a cook at the Poe Run School.
She was a member of Elkins-randolph County Senior Center and Wayside United Methodist Church.
Funeral Arrangements: Friends may call at Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins today from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be in the funeral home chapel Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Walter Blough officiating. Interment will follow in Elkins Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Hospice, 1410 Crim Ave., Belington, W.Va. 26250.
