Lester Paul Simmons, 75, of Riverton, died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2002, in Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg.
Mr. Simmons was born June 5, 1926, in Riverton, a son of the late Lester Clyde Simmons and Madeline Judy.
On Nov. 18, 1950, he married Susie Alice Hedrick, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Carl William Simmons and wife, Kaye, Franklin; three sisters, Martha Hickman, Waynesboro, Va., Nancy Poleo, Roanoke, Va., and Faye Nottingham, Dunmore; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Wayne Simmons and Jake Simmons; and two sisters, Ruth Simmons and Mary Pugh.
Mr. Simmons retired from Pendleton County Schools as a bus driver and Monarch Mills in Petersburg.
He attended North Fork Baptist Church.
Funeral Arrangements: Friends will be received at Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin Friday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be at North Fork Baptist Church Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Mark McAllister and the Rev. Stanley Kile officiating. Interment will follow in North Fork Memorial Cemetery in Riverton. Memorial donations may be made to Pendleton County Rescue Squads.
