Roy “Jack” Petrice, 74, of Coalton, the Pumpkintown community, died Thursday morning, Jan. 24, 2002, in Monongalia General Hospital in Morgantown.
Mr. Petrice was born Jan. 31, 1927, in Mabie, a son of the late Nazarene and Florence Kimball Petrice.
On March 28, 1947, he married Rosalie Morral Petrice, who survives in Pumpkintown.
Also surviving are three sons, Robert Petrice, Pumpkintown, Eddie Petrice, Severna Park, Md., and Roy “Bug” Petrice Jr., Front Royal, Va.; four daughters, Patty Horseman, Ocean City, Md., Mary Ann McClure, Gray, Ga., Rose Howell, Pumpkintown, and Sandra Petrice, Virginia Beach, Va.; four brothers, Bill Petrice, Pumpkintown, Mike and Joe Petrice, King Summit and Jimmy Petrice, Elkins; three sisters, Mary Travise, Coalton, Rose McMasters, Dundalk, Md., and Celia Primavero, Coalton; 19 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
Mr. Petrice was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a coal miner and retired from Upshur Coal Co. He was a member of District 31, Local 8106 of the United Mine Workers of America. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Coalton.
