Minnie M. Payne, 97, of 8 Bush Ave., Philippi, died at 3:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2002, in Broaddus Hospital.
Mrs. Payne was born March 13, 1904, in Century, a daughter of the late Michael Sr. and Clara J. Dodson Spotloe.
She married Benjamin H. Payne Sr., who preceded her in death in 1981.
Surviving are two daughters, Mardell Boni, Philippi, and Mrs. Donal (Pat) Phillips, Ravenna, Ohio; three sons, Perry Payne, Southaven, Miss., Ben Payne Jr., Philippi, and Dr. James Payne, Day City, Mich.; three sisters, Rita Cochran, Philippi, Kathryn Maxson, Century No. 2, and Pauline Prutsok, Summersville; two brothers, Mike Spotloe Jr., Philippi, and David Spotloe, Webster; 20 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and 18 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Doris Lohr; and a son, Gordon Payne.
Mrs. Payne was a cook at several restaurants. She was a member of Ward United Methodist Church.
Funeral Arrangements: Friends will be received at Wright Funeral Home, 216 N. Walnut St., Philippi, Thursday after 6 p.m. Funeral services will be in the funeral home chapel Friday at 2 p.m. Interment will follow in Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery. At the request of the deceased, the casket will be closed.
