Orpha B. Teter, 96, a resident of Elkins and a patient in Elkins Regional Convalescent Center, passed away Tuesday evening, March 12, 2002, in the center.
She was born July 20, 1905, at Harman, a daughter of the late Solomon and Alice Teter Smith.
On June 21, 1930, at Oakland, Md., she was married to Howard Charles Teter, who preceded her in death on July 11, 1962.
She is survived by two sons, Charles Teter and wife, Margaret, of Newburg, and Gerald Teter and wife, Jean, of Elkins; four daughters, Mrs. Wayne (Marie) Schoonover of Elkins, Mrs. Charles (Savannah) Rhodes of Dartmoor, Mrs. Ivan (Lucille) Fortney of Newburg, and Ruth Harman of Tampa, Fla.; two sisters-in-law, Nina Smith of Dailey, and Alta Smith of Elkins; 29 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were seven brothers, Okey, Garber, Gilbert, Morren, Don, Joel and Omer; three sisters, Rosa, Sylvia and Virginia; and three grandchildren.
Mrs. Teter was employed at Elkins IOOF Home prior to her retirement. She was a member of Delphia Rebekah Lodge No. 62 and a Pentecostal by faith.
Friends may call from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Friday at Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. The Delphia Rebekah Lodge No. 62 will conduct a memorial service at 7 p.m. Friday from the funeral home chapel. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Robert L. Lowther officiating. Interment will follow in Elkins Memorial Gardens.
