Junior Harold Sinsel, 72, a resident of Route 1, Philippi, passed away at 8:05 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, 2002, at his residence.
He was born April 4, 1929, in Barbour County, a son of the late Monzell and Verda B. Kethem Sinsel.
He was united in marriage Aug. 10, 1957, to the former Ethel Mae Elza, who preceded him in death on April 4, 1991.
Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Denise and husband, Kenneth Gumm, Valley Bend; one son and daughter-in-law, Michael and wife, Kelly Sinsel, Route 1, Philippi; three brothers, Adrian Sinsel, Philippi, Thomas Sinsel, Yemasse, S.C., and James Sinsel, Michigan; and three grandchildren, Rebecca Corley, Vanessa Corley and Kevin Gumm.
He was preceded in death by five brothers.
He was a self-employed house painter. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a recipient of the Bronze Star. He received the president’s letter of commendation of his longevity for services on the front line. He was a life member of Laurel Mountain VFW Post 410. He was a member of the American Legion.
Family graveside services were conducted at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Pitman Cemetery with Evangelist R.D. Ice officiating. Wright Funeral Home in Philippi is in charge of the arrangements.
