Josephine M. Poe 1926-2002 Obituary
Josephine M. Poe, 76, a former resident of Ervin Lane and a resident of Nella’s Nursing Home in Crystal Springs for the past 10 months, passed away at 3:55 p.m. Thursday, March 21, 2002, in the nursing home.
She was born Feb. 16, 1926, in Grand Ledge, Mich., a daughter of the late Fred and Myrtle Brown Shepard.
She was thrice married.
Her first husband, William Peter Wellman, preceded her in death.
She then married James Wrisley, who also preceded her in death.
On May 10, 1993, she was united in marriage to Roy E. Poe, who passed away on March 11, 2002.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Lois Henry and husband, Willie, of Kerens and Marion Sparkman and husband, Richard, of Monette, Ark.; two sons and daughters-in-law, William Wellman and wife, Wilma, Junior, and the Rev. Tom Wellman and wife, Pat, of Marmaduke, Ark.; three sisters, Marian Bowers, Stanwood, Mich., Donna Whaly and Margaret Shaw, both of Onaway, Mich.; three brothers, Richard Shepard and Henry Shepard, both of Grand Ledge, Mich., and Lawrance Shepard, Shepard, Mich.; 13 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were a daughter, Donna Lou Wellman; a brother, Fredrick Shepard; and a great-grandson, Kenneth Falls.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Abundant Life Christian Center. Previously she attended the church of the Rev. Billy Shreve and also the Gospel Light Tabernacle.
Friends will be received at the F.E. Runner Funeral Home after 6 p.m. today. Funeral services will be conducted from the Runner Chapel on Sunday at 1 p.m.
The Rev. Curlie Ray, pastor of the Abundant Life Christian Center, and the Rev. Tom Wellman, assistant pastor of the Southside Church of God in Paragould, Ark., will officiate.
Interment will follow in the Mountain State Memorial Gardens.
