Flora E. “Flo Jeanne” Payne, 78, a resident of Hopemont Memorial Hospital, Kingwood, and former resident of Buckhannon, passed away at 7:20 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 19, 2002, in Hopemont Memorial Hospital.
She was born March 25, 1924, at Century No. 1, a daughter of the late Dorsey and Madeline (True) Crites.
She was united in marriage on Oct. 3, 1947, to Robert L. Payne, who preceded her in death on April 19, 1973.
Surviving are several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Alfred Deeds Crites.
She was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, Ladies Auxiliary in Buckhannon. She was a United Methodist by faith.
Friends will be received at Wright Funeral Home, 216 N. Walnut St., Philippi, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, the service hour. Services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Alicia Rapking officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery.
