Roy Lee Pritt, 61, a lifelong resident of Mingo Run, passed away Friday, Dec. 20, 2002, at 10 p.m. at his residence. He had been in failing health since February, and death was attributed to cancer.
He was born April 20, 1941, in Mingo, a son of Burly M. Pritt, who survives at Mingo, and the late Mary Lindsay Pritt.
On Dec. 24, 1964, he was united in marriage to the former Betty Lou McCloud, who survives at Mingo.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Mike (Bonnie Lou) Fike of Valley Head; two sons, Ricky L. Pritt and wife, Julie, of Huttonsville, Jeff L. Pritt and wife, Cheryl, of Mill Creek; four sisters, Ruby Ware of Anmore, Mrs. Earl (Hazel) Boylan of Rock Cave, Mrs. Ronnie (Edna) Lemasters of Huttonsville, Mrs. Ronald (Opal) McCloud of Valley Head; and four grandchildren, Brandon Pritt, Elizabeth Paige Pritt, John Beale III and Kaleah Pritt. Also surviving are four stepgrandchildren, Brian Daniels, Erika Fike, Derrick Fike and Kelsey Wyss; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death besides his mother was one brother, Harry Pritt.
He was a woodsman and a logger, having worked for Johnson’s Logging, retiring in January of 2002. He was formerly employed by the HW & C Coal Co. in Philippi. He had also worked at Liggets Supply in Mill Creek. He was an avid hunter.
He attended Brady Gate Church and was a Protestant by faith.
Friends will be received at F.E. Runner Funeral Home today after 6 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted from the Runner chapel Tuesday at 1 p.m. The Rev. Gerald Hamrick of Webster Springs will officiate. Interment will follow at Mingo Cemetery in Mingo. The F.E. Runner Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for Roy Lee Pritt.
