Geraldine Shreve, 76, a former resident of Cassity and a patient of Talbott’s Personal Care Home for the past two months, passed away Sunday, Dec. 22, 2002, at 5:15 p.m. at the Davis Memorial Hospital where she had been a patient for the past three weeks. She had been in failing health for the past two years and her condition had declined in the last three weeks.
She was born April 18, 1926, in Randolph County, the daughter of the late Alfred and Viola Gay Hosey Fox.
She was united in marriage in 1945 to Clifford E. “Bill” Shreve, who preceded her in death on Aug. 20, 2000.
Surviving her are three daughters, Linda Collins of Cassity, Mona Sommerville of Elkins, and Patty Phillips of Weston; one son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth Shreve and wife, Frankie, of Philippi; and two brothers and one sister-in-law, Charles Fox and wife, Judy, of Ohio and Willard “Woody” Fox of Cassity. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sons-in-law, Delmas “Butch” Collins and Carl J. Sommerville; and one great-granddaughter, Brookly Jade Arbogast.
Geraldine was a homemaker, and she loved gardening, crocheting, quilting and was a member of the Fincham Chapel Church.
Friends will be received at the F.E. Runner Funeral Home on Thursday after 6 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted from the Runner Chapel on Friday at 2 p.m. The Rev. Verl Simmons of the Mill Creek United Methodist Charge will officiate. Interment will follow at the Brick Church Cemetery in Huttonsville. The F.E. Runner Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for Geraldine Shreve.
