Tacy Marie Poling Simmons, 88, a resident of Blackman Flats, departed this life early Wednesday morning, Dec. 18, 2002, at Davis Memorial Hospital in Elkins. She had been in declining health for the past two years and death was attributed to congestive heart failure.
She was born Feb. 12, 1914, at Hambleton, a daughter of the late Lloyd James Poling and Sarah Jane Davis Poling.
On April 12, 1931, at Mackeyville, she married Clay Simmons, who preceded her in death on June 4, 1989.
Surviving are one daughter, Ruth Jane Beckman and husband, Victor, of Blackman Flats; one granddaughter, Victoria Ruth Pennington of Blackman Flats; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one infant daughter, Sarah Marie Simmons.
She attended the one-room school at Mackeyville. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of the Brethren.
Friends will be received at Barb & Greenlief Funeral Home Saturday from 2 p.m. until 9 p.m. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home parlor Sunday at 2 p.m. Pastor Eli Hostetler and Pastor David Purkey will officiate and interment will follow at Parsons City Cemetery. The Barb & Greenlief Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for Tacy Marie Poling Simmons.
