Sylvester F. Frank Skinner 1902-2002 Obituary
Sylvester F. “Frank” Skinner, 100, of 202 Randolph St., Buckhannon, crossed over to his heavenly home Monday, Dec. 16, 2002, at 1:30 a.m. at his home in Buckhannon.
He was born Aug. 3, 1902, in Orlando, a son of the late Charles Francis and Maggie Janie Cosner Skinner.
On March 8, 1927, he married Nina Shipman Skinner, who preceded him in death on Jan. 14, 1990.
Surviving are three daughters, Mary Alice Ryan, Buckhannon, Virginia and husband, Charles Bennett, Mesa, Ariz., and Edna Maxwell, Buckhannon; one son, Charles and wife, Edna Skinner, Mabie; 15 grandchildren, including Terry Williams of Buckahnnon, whom Mr. Skinner raised; 27 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Louise Crutchfield; four brothers, Wesley Skinner, Wayne Skinner, Bert Skinner and Lee Skinner; three sisters, Ethel Blake, Necie Freeman and Nora Dennison Rogers; and a granddaughter, Patricia Ann Crutchfield.
He was a groundsman for Western Union Telegraph. He was a member of Buckhannon K of P Lodge No. 54, a member of the IOOF of Weston. He was a member of South Buckhannon Mission and was a Christian by faith.
He was a resident of Buckhannon since 1948.
Friends will be received at Poling-st. Clair Funeral Home today from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be in the funeral home chapel Wednesday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Carus Campbell and the Rev. Mark Davis officiating. Interment will follow in Sand Run Baptist Church Cemetery.
