James M. Tenney, 75, a resident of Cassity, passed away at 8:03 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 24, at his home.
He was born March 3, 1932, at Hemlock, a son of Thomas Jefferson Tenney of Adolph, and the late Violet Emma Daniels Tenney.
He was married March 15, 1954, to the former Lucille Ellen Richardson, who survives at Cassity.
Also surviving are four sons, Roger Tenney and wife, Sharon, of Cassity, Jeffrey Tenney and wife, Mary, of Cassity, Timothy Tenney and wife, Wanda, of Cassity, and Craig Tenney, who resided with his parents in Cassity; five daughters, Doretta Harlan and husband, Kenneth, of Cassity, Connie Rader Casto and husband, Johnny, of Valley Bend, Marsha Taylor and husband, Glenn, of Mill Creek, Kathy Daniels and husband, Charles, of Lawton, Okla., and Marilyn Wegman and husband, Sam, of Valley Bend; one brother, William Tenney of Hemlock Ridge; four sisters, Dorothy Harlan of Adolph, Judy Phillips of Adolph, Pam Finlen of Mill Creek, and Janet Broschart of Cassity; 19 grandchildren, Jimmy , Aaron “A.J.”, and Kayla Harlan; Irene and Allen Melson; James “Jay”, Tiffany and Joshua Rader; Lee and Selina Tenney; Brandy and Chuck White; Lucas Taylor; Jeremy and Terra Daniels; Bobbie and Keith Tacket; Jason, Timothy, Elizabeth and Thomas Tenney; and Chantelle Wegman; and two great-grandchildren, Hunter and Harley White.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Jerry and Thomas Tenney Jr., and a son-in-law, James Rader.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a retired coal miner.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Friday at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Ralph Summerfield officiating. Interment will follow in the Cassity Cemetery at Long Run. Presentation of the American flag will be made by members of H.W. Daniels Post 29 American Legion. The Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for James Marshall Tenney.
