John Owens Parks Sr. 1928-2002 Obituary
John Owens Parks Sr., 74, of Charlottesville, Va., died Thursday, Nov. 7, 2002, at his home surrounded by family and friends.
He was born Oct. 22, 1928, in Elkins, a son of the late John Wesley Parks and Dorothy Mellott Parks, his beloved mother.
He also was preceded in death by his sister, Florence G. Hayden.
He was of the Catholic faith and enjoyed attending Mount View Baptist Church with his wife. He was a member of Elks BPOE No. 389 of Charlottesville and the American Legion of Elkins.
. Parks was a gifted dental technician and owner of Charlottesville Dental Lab Inc.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Beatrice W. Parks; two sons, John O. Parks Jr. and wife, Becky, and Mark S. Parks and wife, Lisa; three precious grandchildren, Heather, Spencer and Mitchell; his loving sisters, Alice Conner-knotts and husband, Dr. Richard Knotts, of Elkins, and Dorothy J. Mills and her special friend, Joe Chonko, of Dunedin, Fla.; a special nephew, Milton Wingfield; many loving nieces and nephews and his best friend, “Hershey.
